The New Bike

11.25.07 | 2008 YZ250F

Here's a couple of pics of the new bike. I decided on the 08' YZ250F after riding a season of Hare Scramble races on an 06' YZ450F I bought new last December. I realized toward the middle of the season that the 450 was a bit too much bike for my riding ability, and the terrain I mostly ride.

I'm glad I downsized, as the 250 feels so much more nimble and easy to handle compared to the 450. It makes me "feel" like a faster rider. It's not nearly as barky on the bottom end, which is good and bad, and it doesn't have as much on top, but overall I feel like it suites my riding style much better. Not to mention, I'm kinda scrawny (165 lbs), which means I was pretty much flapping behind the 450.

So far I've only put a few things on the bike; Cycra handguards, GYTR skid plate, Seal Savers, an hour meter, Renthal grips, and a stubby gas vent to keep the gas from dumping onto the back of the white fender and turning it yellow. Everything else is bone stock. So far I'm pretty happy with how it's performing, but we'll see how things evolve through the season. I'll need to get a spark arrestor soon, but since it's snowing like crazy here, I probably won't need it until spring.

How about that sweet stand! My lift stand broke and is getting re-welded by a buddy...
